Alex came from a Columbia, SC apartment colony rescue in 2006. He was taken to the vet for an exam, FELV/FIV test, vaccines, deworming and neuter. He was then released in Winnsboro, SC at one of our foster homes. He was enjoying life hanging out in a feral (wild) colony of five cats. Alex was only semi-feral and was starting to tame down on his own.

2/4/2007 Alex was attacked by 2 stray dogs, who decided to play tug-of-war with him! It was truly horrific. He was rushed to the ER that night and then to his regular vet the following day. He suffered multiple bite wounds and severe trauma to his leg muscles. His prognosis, however, was good.

Alex has been resting, getting plenty of food and water, antibiotics, and pain meds. His muscles should repair over time and seem to be doing so rather quickly. He has regained use of his left rear leg and tail. He is slowly regaining use of his right rear leg. Only time will tell how much that will be. He probably will not require any special care, just brushing and safety. We will know for sure soon.

Alex has been a real trooper and has fought at every step of his life to survive. He is a beautiful boy with loads of personality and lots of love to give. He is completely tame now and loves getting special attention. He makes "biscuits" and talks to you sweetly while getting attention and wet food. He's been very good at taking his antibiotics and pain meds too.

When Alex is completely ready to go, which should be soon, he would like an inside family to call his own. He may do good with children, but due to his feral past, we will not place him with children (he's never been w/kids, so they might scare him). He is very fearful of dogs, as one might assume, so no dog homes either. Alex does get along well with other cats and they seem to simply adore him.

If you have a special place in your heart and home for Alex, please email me for more information. He deserves the very best.
